Getting Concrete Results For You, Strata attends NCMA Annual
Convention and ICON Expo

Strata joined the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) at its annual convention and participated in the ICON EXPO in San Antonio, Texas in March. The annual convention serves as the center point for technical meetings of concrete masonry, segmental retaining wall, and concrete unit paver producers. Representatives from Strata actively participate on technical committees in support of geogrid and other geosynthetic applications as they relate to segmental walls and pavers.. Show highlights related to hardscape and geosynthetic applications are as follows:

Committees

• SRW Committee Promotes New Design Manual and Software – Segmental retaining wall and geogrid industry representatives met to discuss ongoing efforts by the NCMA to develop and promote design guides and software for segmental retaining wall design. NCMA recently released the NCMA Design Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls (3rd Edition) and supporting design software, SRWall Version 4.0. As a result of these meetings, NCMA will be releasing some minor revisions to the SRWall Version 4.0 software as well as promoting webinar presentations on the new manual and software.
  • Strata is also available to support your design needs with vendor data files and 1-on-1 or webinar training sessions in the design of SRWs using NCMA guidelines and geogrid reinforcement. Contact your local Strata Region Sales Manager or Strata’s Engineering Support for details.
• NCMA and ICPI Merger – The SRW committee spent a great deal of time discussing the possible merger of NCMA and ICPI. The organizational structure is a very important consideration. We need to make sure that the SRW and paver industries stay differiated but are able to take advantage of the similarities between the two groups. Many of Strata’s customers are both SRW and paver manufacturers and Strata believes that a merger would be beneficial to all parties.
• 2010 ICON Expo – the week long annual convention was concluded with the 2010 International Concrete Exposition (ICON Expo). The two-day Expo served as a venue for masonry equipment manufacturers and supporting industries such as Strata to exhibit our products and systems. Strata considers this Expo and excellent venue to meet and discuss our products with many of our customers and distributors. Next year’s Expo will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2011 CONEXPO – CON/AGG event, March 22 – 26, 2011.
