Sleeve-It™: Pre-Engineered System For Building Fence-Ready, Code-Compliant Retaining Walls Print E-mail

Cumming, GA – January 14, 2008: Seeking a pre-engineered solution for integrating fencing into retaining walls, more and more civil engineers, specifiers and fencing contractors are turning to Sleeve-ItTM, a code-compliant system for building fence-ready retaining walls. Sleeve-it not only streamlines construction, but also enables developers to reclaim valuable real estate.

The Sleeve-It System is a recent addition to Strata Systems’ full line of polymeric geogrid products. Sleeve-It is a foundation system that utilizes traditional cantilever technology for anchoring perimeter fences and guards to mortarless block retaining walls. According to Chip Fuller, President of Strata Systems, Inc, “Compared to a retrofitted fence, Sleeve-It adds up to 3-ft. of buildable real estate along the entire length of a segmental retaining wall.”

Strata is a world leader in the production and distribution of polymeric geogrids for segmental retaining walls, reinforced steep slopes and other applications dealing with soil reinforcement. The Sleeve-It System was added to the company’s menu of products when Strata acquired Advanced Hardscape Solutions, LLC in mid-2007.

The Patent-pending Sleeve-it System is an extended family of products that includes steel-reinforced fence post integration systems for numerous commercial, residential and site amenity applications. Along with Strata brand polymeric geogrids, Sleeve-It is distributed and supported throughout North America and in overseas markets.

A proven system for simplifying fence post integration, reducing designer liability, as well as the costs associated with compliance, Sleeve-It meets all code requirements for fences and guards as prescribed by Section 1607.7.1 of the IBC code. As an integrated system, Sleeve-It eliminates the 3-ft. buffer zone mandated between fence posts and foundation (required when post-holes are bored after retaining wall construction is completed). Additionally, contractors may risk compromising the integrity of a retaining wall if a post-hole is bored directly into it. Sleeve-It eradicates that risk.

Leveraging Strata’s international sales, technical support and distribution channels, Sleeve-It is fast becoming the pre-engineered solution of choice for specifiers, engineers, contractors, and developers alike. Added Fuller, “The industry is beginning to realize that the answer to safer and more cost effective fencing along segmental retaining walls isn’t above grade, but below it.”

Strata Systems is a leader in the production and distribution of advanced geogrid soil reinforcement and composite geosynthetic products under the StrataGrid®, MicroGridTM and StrataDrainTM brands. Additionally, the company’s newly acquired Sleeve-ItTM product line affords designers and civil engineers a code-compliant system for integrating fencing into engineered retaining walls. High performance Strata products are designed to meet complex engineering and construction challenges relating to retaining walls, reinforced slopes and embankments. Strata Systems’ state-of-the-industry manufacturing and

R&D capabilities are an extension of its commitment to growth through innovation. Strata Systems is an operating unit of Glen Raven, Inc. the leader in performance textiles and fabrics, recognized globally for its Sunbrella® brand.
