At Strata, we are committed to the success of your soil reinforcement projects. That’s why we are sharing the article linked below from the June issue of CE News. It provides useful insights into steps that can be taken to promote well performing structures. It is often the case that poor performance occurs on projects where roles and responsibilities are not clearly defined for those parties involved with the structure. Conversely, where these are clearly defined, the chance for success is significantly higher and is documented by the many successful, and large, projects completed throughout North America and the World. As the article demonstrates, the cause of many performance related issues is not substandard engineering or careless product specification, but often poor communication. Soil reinforced structures are engineered structures and special care is needed to ensure drainage issues are addressed, and that all those involved are on the same page at each step of the project. To help with your next segmental wall project, Strata recommends the National Concrete Masonry Association’s (NCMA) Design Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls, recently updated and expanded to include a section on roles and responsibilities. Strata engineers routinely participate in setting industry standards and were involved in developing the NCMA guidelines. We hope you that you find the article and guidelines useful.

"No more collapsing cardboard tubes or running to a supply house to pick up long lengths of drainage pipe to fabricate into sleeves. The SLEEVE-IT™ SYSTEM also eliminates call backs from the fence contractor trying to figure out how to auger through our geogrid."

"Using the SLEEVE-IT™ SYSTEM allows my wall crew to install the fence tubes directly behind the wall face and out of the way of my backfill and compaction operation."
